"Herpes Cures" and products that claim to be able to make a difference for those
that have herpes.
Testing, Treatments and Alternative Solutions
Abreva
-
the first and only non-prescription cold sore
medication approved by the FDA to shorten healing time and duration
of herpes symptoms.
For those of you that do not realize this, cold sores and fever blisters are
the herpes simplex virus.
Alternative Treatments
-
Until
recently, with the advent of new and effective specific antiherpes drug
therapy, alternatives to drugs were the only forms of treatment
available. Now there are several very safe drugs that have been PROVEN
effective for the treatment of herpes.
Alternative treatments are
generally NOT as effective as the proven ones. Thus, you should give the
alternative route very careful thought before embarking on it,
especially if by choosing it you would be keeping yourself from
receiving a treatment KNOWN to be effective.
Astragalus
- Traditional Chinese medicine has used astragalus
for such problems as weakness, edema, respiratory infections, diabetes,
night sweats, diarrhea, heart disease, and high blood pressure. Medical
journals suggest the herb may stimulate the immune system and the body’s
ability to resist and combat various diseases. Astragalus may also inhibit
the spread and growth of cancer cells.
AURX
- AURX has been mentioned over and over again
on the net since I came online back in 1997 and to this date I personally have not seen or
heard of any progress with regard to what their company says they are trying
to achieve towards treating herpes simplex virus. Eight years is a long time
to be on the internet with absolutely no progress and no positive
results.
Aviralex
- a sulphate-based solution with
copper as a trace metal in an aqueous herbal base. It is applied to
the site of an active condition. Aviralex contains the herb lemon
balm and ammoniated
acid in deionized water. According to the makers of Aviralex they say that
it's the only laboratory tested all natural topical solution on the market
today proven to provide immediate relief and cessation of herpes outbreaks.
I did some checking and it seems to have several OTC ingredients such as
lemon balm.
BHT
- Over the years I have heard so much about BHT
for this and BHT for that and especially about BHT to treat Herpes. As
you can see from the title of this page, BHT does stand for Butylated
Hydroxytoluene. It almost sounds like something that people might use as
a weight loss supplement. Well, it's not. If you do some googling of BHT
you will find that it has been banned in some countries because it poses
a very real health risk.
Dynamiclear
- Dynamiclear is a sulfate based solution with copper as a trace
metal in an herbal base. It can be applied to the site of an active
condition. Dynamiclear contains the herb St. Johns Wort. A prescription
is not required to purchase Dynamiclear because it is non-toxic and is
not taken internally. Dynamiclear can be applied to the skin as an
antiseptic lotion and is made of natural substances.
Colloidal Silver - I don't think I've ever admitted this
before. When I was first diagnosed with herpes 12 years ago I was
desperate to try and find something - anything that would take away
my outbreaks. My best friend's mother in law found out about my
condition. She's into anything and everything "holistic" you can
think of to the point where she will drive down to Mexico to obtain
those treatments that nobody can get here in the United States.
Denavir
- Penciclovir is an antiviral medication.
Penciclovir is used topically for the treatment of recurrent cold sores.
DMSO
- I have heard over the years that this stuff can be quite dangerous!
Echinacea
- Any of several coneflowers of the genus Echinacea, having usually pinkish-purple ray flowers. The roots, seeds, or
other parts of such a plant, used in herbal medicine.
Everclr3 - It's supposed to naturally restore your body's
resistance towards the herpes simplex virus. I'm not too sure how it
does that since the longer you have herpes the more accustomed to it
that your body becomes. So do your homework before you try the stuff.
I'd really like to hear from you if you do decide to try it.
Gold Bond - This is that medicated powder stuff that you see on
TV. I would imagine that it's kind of like Baby Powder only it has over
the counter medicine mixed inside of it. You can also use it to help
keep you dry. I know that men tend to like using it down their to help
keep them dry after a nice hot shower.
H Balm - People are raving about this stuff all over the
internet. I'm not sure but I think it's got L-lysine in it and I think
you have to be careful where you order the stuff from. I am not aware of
any clinical studies that have been done. For some reason people like to
use it because it takes the edge off the pain that can sometimes
accompany an outbreak. Whatever works, right?
Heal All
(Prunella Vulgaris) - It's a type of plant that produces
leaves that herbalists crush up and mix kind of like a potion to use on
your outbreak. It's supposed to be all natural and therefore safe is
what they claim. I guess this would be considered some sort of medicinal
herb that has healing qualities hence the name: ie heal all.
Herpanacine
- According to their site it's supposed to be some sort of miracle skin
support system from the inside of your body to the outside of your body.
It's not supposed to be limited to treating only herpes simplex virus.
Herpasil - Another over the counter treatment that is supposed
to work on both cold sores as well as genital herpes outbreaks.
Herpelyn - Herpelyn, also spelled Herpilyn, is now called Cold
Sore Relief. It's supposed to effectively medicate the area of the skin
that is affected by cold sores and/or fever blisters. It's supposed to
take the sting and pain away from the outbreak.
Imulux
- What exactly can Imulux do? The good doctor is offering up
$1,000,000.00
reward to anybody that can somehow prove that he is
wrong. Personally, I'd like him to go ahead and make the check out
in my name since to date there is absolutely no way to wipe out the
herpes virus from a person's body. Honestly, instead of taking out
some sort of reward I don't know why he doesn't donate his money to
the real herpes cure?

Isopropyl
Alcohol - Isopropyl alcohol is
about twice as toxic as ethanol. Isopropyl alcohol does not cause an
anion gap acidosis (like ethanol or methanol). It produces an elevated
osmolal gap, but generally no abnormal anion gap (though this may be
seen as a result of hypotension and lactic acidosis). Overdoses may
cause a fruity odor on the breath as a result of its metabolism to give
acetone (which is not further metabolised). While large quantities of
isopropanol can be fatal if left untreated, it is not nearly as toxic as
methanol or ethylene glycol.
L Lysine - Lysine is an essential
amino acid, which means that it is essential to human health but cannot
be manufactured by the body. For this reason, lysine must be obtained
from food.
Lectroject
-
I believe this is just another scam. But then again... what do I
know? If somebody else out there feels this is a legitimate herpes
treatment then be sure to tell me why and leave your comments on my
herpes blog about it, ok? [9/27/06] I had a couple of people leave
comments about this so called "herpes cure" and I was right all
along. Lectroject OR Lectroject is a bunch of hogwash. Be sure you
read the entire thread including the comments, ok? Remember, if it
sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
