STI Site Comments and Feedback

This is a listing of STI sites that people have used in an attempt to research information about sexually transmitted infections. If you have tried any of these STI sites please share your positive or negative experiences about that STI site for posting on the feedback pages. Send me your comments and feedback along with your blessing to post on the site. All names and e-mail addresses will be kept confidential.

H Pal Program - You know, the H Pal program has been around for awhile now and so far I think the volunteers all do a pretty good job at putting themselves out there and helping people that are afraid to post on message boards. The nice part is that we are just regular every day people and I believe once people make contact with one of us they begin to realize that it's really going to be ok and that there is nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of. Eventually we hope to be able to encourage people to make an appointment to go in and see their doctor so that they can get to the bottom of what's been going on with their bodies. The other point is that sometimes H Pals are contacted because the doctor didn't have a whole lot of time to spend talking about the emotional aspects of their diagnosis. So I think that has been a huge blessing for a lot of people.

Picking Up The Pieces - This online support group has been around for a very long time. What's different and unique about this one is that you can sign up and only the members can see what others are talking about. For those that are looking for a more private online support group this might work better than a more public group. However, I think it's important to stress that there is no such thing as privacy on the Internet. So if you are really worried about maintaining your anonymity then I would like to suggest that you start with a unique screen name that nobody knows and use a brand new e-mail addy just for your conversations about topics that you wouldn't normally want your immediate family OR friends to know about. Now that's not to say that I don't think these people can know what's going on. I do think that you are entitled to work through whatever issues you think you need to work through without certain types of people passing judgment. In other words, if you want to communicate to "safe" people what is happening in your life: GO FOR IT. But, make sure they are safe people until you begin to have an understanding of how all of this works. Then of course there are folks (like me) that get to a point where they really don't care what other people think.

Shut Up and Post! STD Message Board - Eventually you get to a point where you just want to know whatever you can about STDS and not just Herpes OR HPV. That's where this forum comes in. When putting this one together I tried to think of categories that I thought people would be interested in so that they would have more options instead of limiting themselves to forums that will only cover one topic. I'm always open to feedback on what we can do to improve the information so please don't hesitate to contact me if you think there is something fun I can add to the pages. My e-mail addy is angela "at" yoshi2me "dot" com. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Yoshi2me - This is my brain child. This is to me, the mother of "herpes" sites because I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this one. You know it's funny because when I look back and think of where I was at when I first started putting stuff together on the internet I do realize that I have come a long way. I didn't know a thing about web sites or forums or even blogging for that matter. And now look at where the technology today has brought us. Who knows what it will be like for us fifty years from now? Will I still be updating these pages? Will there be a cure for herpes by then? Or maybe we will have a vaccine that will prevent people from contracting herpes. Who knows?

What do you think of these STI sites? I have created polls where you can stop by, vote on each site, and let us know what you think of them. If there are areas that need improvement please let us know. If you would like to share your thoughts to be posted on this particular page, contact me and I will be happy to include them - good or bad. - Angela
