It has almost been one year since my HSV2 diagnosis, and I am proud to finally say I have accepted this disease, and have gotten on with my life. The weeks of sleeping were torture, the paranoia of going out and thinking everyone knows over and over. Your herpes site played a huge part and still plays a huge part in my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you! With this disease came a renewed relationship with my spirituality as well and I thank God for that also. People do not choose to get herpes. I would not have chosen to get herpes. It happened. As much as I was initially devastated at having contracted herpes, I can honestly say if I had a choice between never having had herpes and NOT knowing the people I've met since I've had herpes that I would not change a single thing. I have met, either online or in person, some of the most wonderful, kind, generous people since being diagnosed with herpes. Angela and Gayla are selfless in reaching out to others, helping them and if you take a moment to check out their respective websites, I think you'll agree with me that they are literally angels on Earth. - M

I can't think of anything more reassuring or inspirational to people in our situation. I love that you posted a picture of you and your husband, because it really humanizes your story. Angela puts a lot of time into helping others. She takes time away from herself and her family to provide us with resources for medical info, social support, and anything else that someone in our collective situation could want. She gives of herself for our benefit. Not just mine but everyone's benefit. If she was local, she would probably be one of the first people you could count on for help. She does not live in our backyard, yet she still looks upon all of us as if we were her neighbors. - R

As a nurse and an H "victim" since 2002, I applaud your courage to stand up for those who would be ostracized within our own professions if colleagues only knew our secret. Few close friends know my condition and HIPPA keeps my diagnosis from being known to others where I work. I feel that in our own medical community there is so much stigma despite the knowledge of the disease.
