Zinc Comments and Feedback

Zinc is an all natural product that people are finding over the counter or ordering online in an attempt to treat herpes simplex virus. If you have tried Zinc for herpes outbreaks please share your positive or negative experiences about that product for posting on this feedback page. Send me your comments and feedback along with your blessing to post on the site. All names and e-mail addresses will be kept confidential.

ZINC - Have you tried it?

Zinc is also capable of inhibiting herpes simplex virus in the test tube. It is a common component of various skin creams. Zinc has been tried as a cream combined with ultrasound treatment and has also been given by mouth. Neither of these settings, although reported in the literature, was set up as a trial with placebo controls, randomization, etc. Conclusions cannot be drawn.

The Truth About Herpes

In reference to Zinc Cure: I stopped at the *Herpes Simplex Cure* at the top of the page, checked out the home page and it's pretty clear that whoever runs this site is simply trying to prey on the hopes of people looking for ways to wipe out the virus completely from their bodies. It's simply not going to happen because to date there is absolutely no way to do that. If you are looking for products to help fight the pain of an outbreak while you are waiting for your proven herpes antiviral meds to kick in that I would suggest that you check out other more reliable resources. There is an entire section about how you might treat some of the herpes symptoms that may occur during an outbreak in many of the books I have in my own home library. - A

If you do a search on pub med for herpes and Zinc there are some studies that come up. I believe they are mostly topical zinc preparations, not oral zinc (been awhile since I did it so I don't recall exactly ). George Eby is the "zinc guy" as I like to call him. He is marketing his own brand of zinc lozenges so take what he writes with a grain or two of salt (everything on his website swears that his brand of zinc is far superior to other brands). Reading the fine print on zinc and herpes studies (ones that aren't on a website trying to sell a product) usually show that topical zinc is like most other topical herpes products in that it heals lesions about a day or faster than using nothing at all. Same goes with taking zinc every couple of hours for the common cold - only shortens the duration by a day or so. Sometimes you have to add up the cost vs. the benefit for it. Basically it's not the "magic bullet" that people are looking for. - B
