Hello, My name is Kari. I'm an
English instructor and I live in the Chicago area. I'm 38 years
old. I have had the Herpes Type 2 Virus for over ten years now.
I was diagnosed in July of 1997. I was extremely depressed and
scared when I was first diagnosed. Since my diagnosis, I have
gotten in contact with others in the same situation. I've gone
to support groups, social outings, educational meetings. I get
out and talk about it. The support of others is very
important in our situation. I'd like to be of help to others. My
main advice to people is: Don't let this diagnosis prevent you
from living a full life. It is important to obtain support, as
well as educate ourselves about the virus. I believe medical
treatment is very important as well. I hope that others can
reach out to me when they need to do so. Thanks! -
Kari
