Fort Hood, Killeen H Pal

I was diagnosed with HSV2 ten years ago. I remember being devastated in the beginning, but over time as I learned more I became more comfortable, and now I hardly think about it at all. I am amazed today at the amount of information that is available and am extremely enthusiastic about communicating about this disease to others.

There is so much negative stigma attached to Herpes that is simply due to ignorance, and so much emotional pain that having this can cause. None of us are alone, and I think none of us should be afraid. I hope that I can be there for others for support and questions, and just general friendship. I think that this condition makes us no less valuable and vibrant than any other person, and I hope to help anyone who talks to me feel the same way.

I got married to an AMAZING Herpes free man 2 and a half years ago and we are now expecting our first child. I have refused to let herpes rule my life, and it has not. Telling my parents, friends, and dates has been tough, but I have been overwhelmed by the amount of love and support I have received over the years.

I decided to become an H pal to give a little of that out to others and to give them a glimpse of my own life so that those that are scared or worried can know that there is hope after Herpes. I love talking to people, and don't judge anyone. I will answer any question without shame and I try to always be honest. - Amy
