Herpes
Outbreaks
Over the years I've
come to realize that not every herpes outbreak is the same. In fact,
there are some people that have herpes without really noticing it
because they don't get signs or symptoms. We already know that part but
even for those that do get outbreaks that they can see or feel they
really can vary from person to person.
So what I would like to do with
this page is to post comments from those folks that send them to
me. Describe for me what your herpes outbreaks are like and I will post
your comments here on this page. That way when folks read through the
comments they can see that herpes outbreaks really do vary.
My first
outbreak was odd in comparison to others as my miscarriage triggered the
onset. I was bleeding, suffering from a severe bacterial infection and
on top of that had HSV2 that they didn't diagnose correctly for almost 3
months. I had flu like symptoms and small lesions (blister like) that
were sore to the touch and when they popped would bleed a little. It was
4 months of hell. Now, when I am about to get an outbreak (which seem to
happen around the time I menstruate) I get a tingly feeling, then a
blister or two or three and three to five days later am ok. They are not
as painful and seem to be getting less painful as it goes (or I am
getting used to the pain). My last outbreak I had no pain and only
realized there was a lesion after wiping the area after using the
restroom, saw a slight streak of blood. No other symptoms. ~ T
My outbreaks are a
bit strange compared to what I have read about others. I do not have any
cuts, lesions, sores, blisters or anything of that nature. My outbreaks
just burn. Its a burning sensation down below. It only last a few days
but it feels like a eternity. - Wannabhsvfree
I've had Genital Herpes Type 1 since
May 06' and I was in contact with the virus just a few days prior to
symptoms (lesions) from my boyfriend, through a cold sore and oral sex. I had an awful initial outbreak, and then one other
very mild outbreak the beginning of Dec 06' and I have not had one since
(that I knew about of course!) - Abby
When I was first
diagnosed with herpes it took the doctors 3 weeks to figure out that I
was NOT having a bladder OR urinary tract infection. It was a primary
outbreak and horrible for me to say the least. I had problems walking,
the entire area was red and sore, and it felt like I had the flu.
Eventually the doctors finally tested me properly after finally taking a
look down there and came back to me with the news that I had genital herpes type-2. Twelve years later I do get herpes
outbreaks once in awhile but they are not like what I had when I first
contracted herpes. Today if I were to get a herpes outbreak it would be
nothing like what I had when I contracted it. Today I might have a
small patch or redness about the size of a dime and that's about it. A
little irritation with no other signs OR symptoms. Every once in a blue
moon I might feel under the weather when that happens but it's not
really anything that Valtrex won't get rid of in about three days. - Angela
My first outbreak
didn't include any visible blisters or lesions. I woke up with what I
thought was a horrible urinary tract infection (UTI) which included
blood in my urine and major discomfort in the vaginal area. I went to
my gyno on a Thursday who did a pelvic exam, took a culture, looked
under the microscope, said I had
trichomoniasis and put me on Tindamax
for it. A few days later (Saturday), things still weren't right and I
was still in a great deal of pain so I went to the Urgent Care where
they did another pelvic exam and though the Dr. couldn't say for
certain, she did indicate that it looked like herpes and put me on
Acyclovir just to be safe. She sent the culture off for testing and a
few days later I was told that I was HSV2+. I have opted for
suppressive therapy and have had one OB since then (30 days) and it
included UTI symptoms again with some vaginal discomfort but still no
visible blisters or lesions. - Learning to Deal
