Orange
County HELP
Orange County HELP is a herpes support group in Orange County
California. The Orange County herpes support group meets monthly. The
Orange County herpes support group also acts as a herpes social group
for people living in orange county OR the surrounding areas.
Our monthly herpes support group meetings
are held at 7:00 - 9:00 o'clock in the evening on the first Friday of
every month at Irvine Medical Center. The address is: 16200 Sand Canyon
Avenue in Irvine, California. The zip code is 92618. If you need
directions to this location you can always bring up yahoo, find the maps
category, and then print out directions from wherever you live.
We meet in classroom #1 or #2 depending on
which one we can get into. If this helps at all the medical center is
located between Alton Parkway and Barranka Parkway near the 405 freeway.
We like to get together after the meetings. If you feel up to it we can
go grab a bite to eat somewhere OR we can find another social outlet
where we can go and talk about whatever it is you'd like to share.
Classroom #1 is by the little theatre,
first room on the right, and by the main entrance of the medical center.
Our herpes support group meetings may include speakers, small group
discussions, and films. We have a medical advisor who is a medical
doctor. Our support group has volunteers that are aware of the medical
and emotional implications of your situation.
If you have been newly diagnosed or are
experiencing some challenges living with the herpes virus, you might
want to consider attending a herpes support group in your area. If you
do a google search for "herpes help groups" you can find a listing. You
can also check out the
Social Support Networking Alliance (SSNA) for a
listing of herpes support groups and herpes social groups.
Many of these herpes support groups
provide a safe, confidential environment where participants can get
accurate information and share personal experiences, fears, and feelings
with others who are concerned about herpes. Many of us do talk about
personal experiences dealing with and dating other that have herpes.
Knowledge is power and talking to other people who have successfully
dated with herpes is a real confidence builder.
Herpes HELP groups are non profit and are
a great resource for anyone who needs the support that only they can
provide. Even if you have had herpes for years, there are always new
herpes research studies and treatment advances that you can find out
about by attending HELP group meetings. It's also a great way to make
new friends and continue to build on old ones.
If you are new and not quite ready to
attend one of our social events, attending our support group is a great
first step. Remember, you are NOT alone. At these meetings you have the
option to be linked with a buddy, somebody that you can talk to one on
one. We try to keep the women with women and the men with men so that
personal and intimate issues can be discussed without feeling
embarrassed or out of place. If you feel that you have a beer
connection with someone, you are more than welcome to approach that
person and be re-assigned. This way you are able to have someone
available if you have a down day or just need somebody to talk to.
You are always welcome to attend any of
our meetings. It is a difficult first step but you will be glad that you
came. If you have additional questions you would like answered before
you attend our next herpes support group meeting feel free to
write to
us.
We gave a social group here in Orange
County.
It is a great way to meet new friends and
get reacquainted with old ones. We are quite diverse. From the newly
diagnosed to the "old timers". You can talk to those in a social
environment about their own personal experiences. Many of us have given
the talk "successfully" and herpes is now more of a minor issue in our
lives. It is a great way to mingle and not feel that you are alone.
Quite, the contrary. So, come join us. Our activities including
dinners, hiking, brunches, bike rides, wine tasting,
kayaking, performing arts, etc. Orange County Friends is a social group,
not a support group. So, we would recommend that you attend an OC HELP
group meeting if you are looking for herpes support and additional
information about herpes.
