I’ve got three brand new stories to share with you

Posted in Health Buzz | No Comments »

true-stories

I think you are going to enjoy them very much. All three of them are unique and have an element of interest that I’m sure will spark the attention of anybody that is seeking to read about how others cope with finding out they have herpes for the first time, being diagnosed and shunned at 16, and having a conversation with a lady and her cat!

Check it out!

As you can see from the look of the site it’s still under construction with the face lift. I didn’t see any point in taking the entire site down during this process because too many people see the value in the pages no matter how they look. I will be glad when the face lift is over. Do you like it?

I was diagnosed at the age of 18

Hi

I know you get a lot of emails but I just wanted to say how grateful I am that someone has created this website. I cried last night as I read the stories. I guess I was crying for myself a bit but also with hope and just knowing I am not alone with this inner turmoil.

I was diagnosed at the age of 18(18!!!), after a stupid one-night stand. I am now 26 and an attractive and successful lawyer – so at least some things in my life are going well!!

I was in denial for quite a long time. It was only a year ago that I told my 2 best friends, they were very supportive and have been wonderful. I am dating someone at the moment and may tell him if I feel that he is right, I wouldn’t never knowingly give this to someone.

Its just so hard, I have told one person before and he ran for the hills, but I told him 2 soon I realized. I just find the stigma so hard to deal with and my other friends make comments unknowingly about things and I do get a bit upset. But that’s life I suppose, I wish people were more educated. People quite often say about me how they would sleep with me without condoms because they know I wouldn’t have anything – little do they know.

I just hope that one day I will wake up and my condition is not the first thing I think about. My outbreaks aren’t bad, its been 5 months since my last. Its just the stigma.

Anyway, just wanted to share my story. Hopefully I will have a happy ending like you.

Thanks so much for this, the real-life stories are a great help. Some do not have happy endings, but then nor do ‘regular’ people. I am confident I will meet someone as great as your husband. Thanks, Anon x

What are H Pals?

bulb

H Pals are volunteer peeps offering support for You!

That’s our newest H Pal and she’s volunteering one-on-one support through e-mail for the Chicago and surrounding areas. So if you are new to herpes and your not sure if you are ready to ask questions on the message boards yet and just want to correspond with somebody privately then finding an H Pal might be a good thing.

Remember that we are not healthcare professionals (well at least not some of us) and we don’t try to diagnose anybody. What we do is listen and maybe let you know how we would handle certain situations if we were in your shoes and sometimes we have been in your shoes so we just share what we know based on our own experiences.

I do have a couple more H Pal volunteers to add so keep your eyes peeled for those. I’m sure y’all have noticed that my pages are starting to turn a little sideways over on yoshi2me.com – try not to worry about it because I’m just giving the site a much needed facelift for 2008!

The Incomparable Christ

More than two thousand years ago there was a man born contrary to the laws of life.

This man lived in poverty and was reared in obscurity. He received no formal education and never possessed wealth or widespread influence.

He never traveled extensively. He only once crossed the boundary of the country which He lived.

But this man’s life has changed the course of history.

In infancy He startled a king; in childhood He puzzled doctors; in manhood He ruled the course of nature, walked upon the waves, and hushed the sea to sleep.

He healed the multitudes without medicine and made no charge for His services.

He never wrote a book. Yet His life has inspired more books than any other man.

He never wrote a song. Yet He has furnished the theme for more songs than all songwriters combined.

He never founded a college. But all the schools put together cannot boast of having as many students.

He never marshaled an army, nor drafted a solder, nor fired a gun. Yet no leader ever had more rebels surrender to Him without a shot fired.

He never practiced psychiatry. Yet He has healed more broken hearts than all the doctors far and near.

Once each week the wheels of commerce cease their turning, and multitudes gather to pay homage and respect to Him.

Though time has spread two thousand years between the people of this generation and His birth, He still lives. His enemies could not destroy Him, and the grave could not hold Him.

This man stands forth upon the highest pinnacle of heavenly glory, proclaimed of God, acknowledged by angels, adored by His people, and feared by devils, as the risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“God also hath highly exalted Him (Jesus Christ), and given Him a name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” – Philippians 2:9-11

“If thou shalt confess with they mouth that Lord Jesus, and shalt believer in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” – Romans 10:9

Listen,

You may feel down and out at times, empty; maybe you’re really scared. I was. You may be so sad and angry at the whole wide world- mostly yourself- and you may curse this life-long situation you found yourself in, but honestly, in all sincerity: listen to me. Your number just came up. Yeah, I know. Sucks, huh? But it really is just that simple. Health is a crap-shoot, baby.

But come on, give yourself a break. Being positive for an std doesn’t mean that you deserved it. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad person. It doesn’t mean your skanky, or unattractive, or too trusting, or any less capable of performing life’s daily tasks than any non-std carrying individual. I mean, hell, you seem perfectly fine to me. As a matter of fact, unless you told me, I’d have absolutely no idea you were a carrier. Those sores? They don’t last forever, and they don’t diminish who you are as a productive, loving person in the world. Shoot… you’re sexy and you know it.

Guys, gals; you’ll still get that mate of your dreams. Don’t let the health status of your crotch keep you from being open to gettin a little action and lovin when you’re ready for it. No. Listen to me, truly: BE OPEN to it. There are a ton of super fine, damned amazing people just waiting to be with you. And it won’t matter if you’re a carrier or not to that person! I’m living proof. My friends are astounded at the beautiful, loving woman I’ve found, and they have no idea I’m a carrier. She has been a pilar of strength for me when I need her, and I am the same for her. We have a perfectly normal relationship. She is also far and away the most beautiful woman I’ve ever been with (yes, fellahs, you can still find a hot mamacita/ papacita – I say that because we all know males tend to fixate on looks a teensy bit more than you much less shallow lady gender). She knows I’m a carrier and yet loves me just the same. Lemme ask you this: What if you were to have been diagnosed with diabetes or lupus? Does the loving end with those? Certainly not! Then why should this be any different?

So, if it helps, seriously consider how much time and effort you spend paying attention to your std… and then ask yourself how much time and effort other people spend paying attention to your std.

Capice? Make sense?

You aren’t your std, so get out there, hold your head up high and smile; because you know as well (and better than) I how cool of a person you are. You have an infectious laugh, a cool talent your friends and family envy, great story telling ability, a way with animals, are a great cook, do adventurous things, are romantic, kick ass at trivia, sing great, can create wonderful art, are a whiz at math, an amazing parent, a hot lover, and ultimately a wonderful, inspiring human being.

So I guess all of this to say:
Stop being your std for awhile; your body and mind will thank you for the vacation. Just continue being the same old heavenly you, and I think you’ll find it suits you beautifully.
