I was diagnosed with herpes over 15 years ago and now divorce over 5yrs and have met someone which we are not intimate only friends but I'm hoping that a friendship could develop into a relationship which is what prompted me to know my status in the instance I have to tell him. I know my question may be somewhat silly. so please forgive me. I am currently on suppressive therapy and my test results came back that I have both 1 & 2. I was devastated to find that I had both when I thought it was HSV 2 only. It was like reliving the feelings from over 15 years ago. So I began to panic but I've never had a cold sore or fever blister. Could have unknowly infected my family members by casually kissing them? Not to mention my friend whom I recently kissed with a partially open mouth? Please help I'm so confused with all the different information I've been reading. My doctors said if I didn't have an active cold sore then not to worry. Should I tell my entire family to go get tested now that I know I have HSV 1?
