Well I'm glad you came back to explain because we wouldn't want to leave the wrong impression about how people can treat their outbreaks.

Newly diagnosed folks need hope and not more disappointments. So thanks!!

I shouldve clarified, Valtrex works phenominally for me. I use it for my OBs, and it knocks them out. I am allergic to some other types of meds, and when I take them...they trigger OBs (along with rashes, stomach problems, etc.) Some of these are skin medications, antiobiotics. Valtrex has been great for me. I'm just one of the tiny percentage of people that are sensative to other drugs.

I don't really consider the clinically proven herpes antivirals to be strong medications.

So sorry that nothing seems to help you.

Are you sure that your "outbreaks" are really herpes outbreaks? Not everything doing on down there is always going to be a herpes outbreak.

Maybe you need a full work-up from a doctor that is willing to check you out for everything, ya know?

I'm entering my 5th year with H. Im one of the tiny percentage of people that has allergic reactions to strong meds. In fact, I was hospitalized for taking Oflaxacin (Strong, full body antiobiotic). When I take strong meds, I break out in rashes and get severe "abdominal distress" and then inevitably a Herpes OB. Seriously, doesn't that suck? So I try to stay healthy, avoid the medications that cause an allergic reaction. I just hope that eventually, I don't have the herpes OB when I have the reactions.
