Never stop what you are doing
Posted on Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 at 9:05 PMDear Yoshi2Me,
I was diagnosed with genital herpes today. I rode the subway home in a fog, trying to hold back my tears and thinking about what to do now. Am I going to be single forever? If I decide to tell my friends, will they turn on me?
There is such a terrible social stigma attached to herpes. In high school, I was disgusted by a group of girls who were known to have herpes. And today, I feel terrible about it. I wish I could go back in time and hug them. I guess it’s true what they say – what goes around comes around.
I came home and went on the internet in search of support and found this site. I want to thank you so much. One of the first things that went through my mind was “will my children end up infected?” Through disclosing your experiences and intimate moments, you have brought so much ease to my mind.
Never stop what you are doing, it is so important. So so important. I really can’t thank you enough.
XoXoXoX
Much love,
L
