Your site gave me Courage – Your site gave me courage to tell the guy I was dating about my ’situation’. Despite it still haunting me (I’ve had it for less than a year), I like to think that I have mostly come to terms with it. I had feared telling him, had cried a lot over it, but he was accepting when I told him. So, in short, I would like to thank you. Thank you for your informative and real site. It has helped me a lot.

Planned Parenthood Challenges Alaska Pro-Life Law

An Alaska school teacher and Planned Parenthood have filed suit seeking to block a ballot initiative that would mandate parental involvement with teens seeking abortions.

Anchorage high school teacher Susan Wingrove opposes the pro-life effort.

“I feel like the initiative isn’t clear about penalties for doctors and other issues and is overwhelming for many teens,” she said.

The Alaska Family Council is backing the initiative that says a parent must either be notified or give permission for the abortion. President Jim Minnery said he expected the opposition.

“It’s a tactic that they’ve taken across the country,” he said. “In every one of the 40 states where we now have parental consent or notification, they’ve stepped forward.”

The pro-family organization has to collect nearly 33,000 signatures to put the initiative on the August 2010 ballot. —Steve Jordahl

I have never been a fan of Planned Parenthood going against the family. Parents have a right to raise their kids and should be notified if their kids are trying to get birth control or to get an abortion. I think parents should be able to sign off on these things and really be there for their kids when they are discovering them in these very scary and and confusing situations.

In Nebraska a 17 year old can walk into their local Walgreens pharmacy and buy Plan B without parental consent too. I don’t think that’s right. I think parents need to be aware of what is going on with their kids. If you think your kids are not being tempted or participating in these sorts of activities then you are blinded by the reality that surrounds us in this world.

Some will say that many kids are being abused. Well, if that is the case then why isn’t Planned Parenthood notifying the authorities and getting child protective services involved?

Acyclovir and Tea Tree Oil Feedback

Posted in Health Buzz | No Comments »

It was really good to come across your site. I got hsv1 just three months ago both oral and genital. My boyfriend was having an oral outbreak that neither of us noticed and he spread it to me. For a week I had no idea what on earth was wrong with me. It hurt like omg awful.

No one connected his oral herpes to my genital and oral. About a week went by before visiting planned parenthood. The nurse practically finished my sentences. They gave my acyclovir and one receptionist told me tea tree oil would dry the blisters fast.

My initial ob was cleared with acyclovir. I have had two more oral ob. This one right now is not going away with acyclovir. I went to walgeeens and bought tea tree oil.

I have been dabbing the oil on my lip with a q tip every 15 minutes or so. It’s been an hour and a half and that huge yellowish blister is now reduced to a round reddish spot. I am absolutely amazed and thought I should take the time to share this with you.

Obama Is Not Pro-Life

Posted in Health Buzz, Political Buzz | 4 Comments »

For those that believe Barack Obama is Pro-Life, I challenge you to read through this post and then ask yourself if you still believe that he’s Pro-Life?

Obama’s public face about abortion is just one big lie. Out in public, debates, etc he puts on this “I don’t like abortion, I just want women to have their right to do it. I think we need to cut down on the number of abortions through prevention, education, etc, etc” — It SOUNDS “compassionate”.

But before the economy took it’s big plunge, he told Planned Parenthood, and this is recorded too– that his FIRST action as President would be to enact the Freedom of Choice Act– which WIPES OUT every single measure that DOES actually cut down on the number of abortions. He knew he could become the leader of the free world– and THE most important thing to him, the most pressing concern to him is lifting ANY and ALL restrictions on abortion???

Right now 36 states have parental notification laws— the Freedom of Choice Act would WIPE OUT a state’s right to require parental notification. So your 12 year old daughter could go get an abortion without your knowledge or consent. She needs consent to get a cavity filled. She needs consent to go on a school field trip. She needs consent to get a tattoo. But Obama thinks she should be able to get an abortion without mom or dad even knowing.

26 states have informed consent laws which provides someone seeking an abortion with MEDICAL information (not moral or religious counseling) about the present state of the baby, what the abortion process actually is and how it works. Doctors do that with ALL medical procedures. You go in to have a corn removed from your big toe and the doctor will explain to you what he’s going to do and how he’s going to do it. They do that with ANY procedure. But pro-choicers want to say that in the case of an abortion, any “counseling” or “description” of the process is only to put undo pressure on the mother to not go through with it.). FOCA would WIPE OUT informed consent laws.

34 states have funding restrictions and do not allow tax payer dollars to fund abortions. So in those states, women on Medicaid and welfare women can’t have an abortion using my tax dollars. FOCA would wipe that out and give women and young girls of any age, without parental consent an abortion using taxpayer money.

26 states have late-term and partial-birth abortion bans. FOCA would ABOLISH these bans even though the Supreme Court JUST ruled last year to uphold a state’s right to ban partial-birth abortions. So women would be able to get an abortion no matter how far along the pregnancy is, and would be able to have a partial-birth abortion for ANY reason, health wouldn’t even be an issue.

45 states have Protection of Conscience Laws– these laws allow doctors the right to NOT perform an abortion if he/she has a moral objection. They also stop doctors from being sued for discrimination, and stop doctors, nurses, technicians, etc from being fired for refusing to perform abortions, assist in them, etc. Conscience Laws would be WIPED OUT with FOCA. So even though there are PLENTY of doctors who are perfectly willing to perform them, doctors who object to doing so would either be FORCED to perform them or face being fired and/or sued, or they’d be forced to quit in order to avoid being sued and/or fired.

Obama spews all these LIES about worrying about the health of the mother… give me a flipping break. The overwhelming majority of all abortions, (95%), are done as a means of birth control. Only 1% are performed because of rape or incest; 3% due to the mother’s health problems. And 1% because of fetal abnormalities.

And what does the health of the mother have to do with all of the above restrictions being taken off the law books? What does the health of the mother have ANYTHING to do with a doctor who morally objects to performing abortions? He’s going to MAKE doctors perform abortions JUST because their patients want one? A doctor can be sued, fired etc just because he says “Sorry, I don’t do abortions but you can go to Planned Parenthood or Dr. Smith”?

He doesn’t give one WHIT about the health of the mother– otherwise why would he want to allow doctors to be PUNISHED for not wanting to participate in one, when the woman can just go to any other doctor who will?

Obama wants to lift every single solitary measure that in ANY WAY limits abortions. So when he says “I’m personally against abortion, I think there should be fewer abortions, and I think we should do everything we can to reduce the number of abortions,”he is LYING THROUGH HIS TEETH. He’s doing EXACTLY the opposite. He’s wanting to GUARANTEE that anyone of any age, for any reason, at any time during the pregnancy can have access to free (read that: Taxpayer funded) abortions, and is willing to FORCE doctors, nurses, techs, etc to choose between their moral conscience and keeping their jobs.

So… do you still believe that Obama is Pro-Life?

Family Planning Bailout Packages?

Posted in Celebrity Buzz, Health Buzz, Political Buzz | 2 Comments »

How does contraception stimulate the economy? How does family planning reduce cost? What is Nancy Pelosi trying to say? Is it me OR did she just fumble over her words?

It is almost as if she is saying that if we pour billions into Planned Parenthood and contraception that we will reduce cost because more and more human beings will be killed?

Oh, so the answer to reducing cost is to make sure we continue pouring billions into the abortion industry so that human beings can be kept from reaching their full potential?

I don’t think that we need to be pouring resources into funding abortions OR contraception. Family planning is about education and making smart choices.

If the government wants to put money into something then why don’t they put it into providing accurate STD testing to include all STDS and not just the ones that are easy to test for?

Instead of providing funds to kill human beings, why don’t they help to provide solutions that will save lives and keep America healthy? If they want to do something good, why don’t they provide ways to make it easier for couples to adopt these unwanted children?

Please have lost their jobs and they want to give money to the Abortion Industry… hmm.. that makes a lot of sense! (sarcasm)

I was all excited about the Turducken that we are getting in the mail today, until I heard about Planned Parenthood’s Abortion Bailout Package!

Here’s what I got in my inbox today.

Yes, I felt it important enough to copy and paste and share it with you.

More and more I can not stand Planned Parenthood, Period!

A message to all members of Team Sarah

December 19, 2008

Dear Team Sarah,

Tired of bailouts?

Well they aren’t going away anytime soon. Now the abortion industry wants one!

We all knew that Planned Parenthood (the number one abortion provider in the country) was going to have a special seat at the table in the Obama administration. Well it hasn’t taken them long at all to roll out their extreme agenda.

Tell your Senator today that Planned Parenthood should not get a bailout.

Go to www.stoptheabortionbailout.com

Abortion groups have submitted their 50 page proposal to the Obama-Biden transition team. At the top of the list? More taxpayer dollars for abortion organizations like Planned Parenthood. How much more? Over 1.5 billion dollars more!

The Abortion Bailout Package:

**$1 BILLION dollars in taxpayer funding for International Abortion Groups like UNFPA, an international aid organization connected to coercive abortion as part of China’s coercive one-child policy

**$700 million in taxpayer funding for “Title X” Health Clinics (aka your local Planned Parenthood affiliate)

**Repeal the Hyde Amendment — Vastly expanding federal taxpayer funding for abortions

**Include Abortion coverage in any taxpayer-subsidized national health care program

**Expand taxpayer-funded abortions through the Peace Corps program

It is an outrage for Planned Parenthood to expect you to give your hard earned dollars to fund the destruction of innocent life.

Join citizens across our great country in telling their Senators to keep your tax dollars out of the abortion providers. Tell them to Stop the Abortion Bailout!

Sign the Petition today!

STD Clinics in West Des Moines, Iowa

Posted in Health Buzz, Readers Write In | 3 Comments »

Here’s the question:

I cant seem to find out some info. I need to get STD tested and cant find prices and places to go. I live in West Des Moines and think i have HPV, but would like some prices on tests. Any links with the info i need? Thanks for all your help.

Here’s what I think:

You might try calling the Centers for Disease Control to see if they  have any recommendations. Maybe you can pick up your local telephone book and check to see if you have any free county health services. A lot of the times if you can find a free HIV clinic, you might be able to get accurate STD testing. You can also try making an appointment to see an infectious disease specialist OR even your family doctor.

Please let us know how it works out for you. If there is anybody that lives in Des Moines, Iowa that would like to make a recommendation as to where a person can get tested for STI’s, please leave a comment.

You can also try  your local Planned Parenthood.

Teen Heartbreak all over the World

Posted in Health Buzz | No Comments »

heartbreakThis is one example of Teen Love gone wrong. Young girl falls in love with young guy. Young guy wants to have sex with young girl so he says and does everything right to get in her pants. Young girl falls for young guy’s advances even though it’s not sitting right deep down inside. And the story goes on…

The story goes on like this one all over the world because I’m pretty certain this isn’t the only scenario where two teens have sex and one winds up with a sexually transmitted disease for the first time. I’m pretty sure you could probably switch the scenario around and make the girl the aggressor and the young guy in a bad spot as well.

Hopefully teens are thinking about what can  happen as a result of having sex. Sex is a serious thing and not something to be flippant about. Sometimes even waiting for the right person to come along can come with its consequences if you aren’t ready and able to talk about STDS and make a date to go and get tested BEFORE you have sex.

So here we have a story written by an anonymous teenager that wants others to know that she understands where you are coming from and what you might be going through.

I would also like to mention that it was suggested that men never seem to be at any of the Planned Parenthood locations. I would suspect that it might have something to do with the fact that Planned  Parenthood doesn’t really reach out to help young men unless young men have no place else to turn. Am I happy about that? No, because it is what it is. I have heard Planned Parenthood will see men but then again.. it caters only to women. You’ll have to contact Planned Parenthood to find out why that is.?

If you  have a story you’d like to share feel free to contact me and let me know how little or how much information you’d like to include. I will be happy to put a page together and share it as I’ve done with this one.

Rachael’s Journey with Herpes

Posted in Health Buzz | No Comments »

flower

OK, here’s the skinny. I am turning 38 years old this year. I was diagnosed with herpes when I was just 20 years old. I remember the day vividly. I came from the doctor and went back to work hysterical. I remember my bosses wife telling me nothing could be that bad, and that 10 years from now whatever it was wouldn’t even matter. “Yeah, right,” I thought. “You have no idea that 100 years from now it will still matter.”I had been dating a guy that had what I know now was a cold sore. I had never had one in my life, or even knew what it was. Certainly had no idea it was herpes or even contagious. I asked him what was on his lip and he responded “I was hit in the lip with a football”. I was young and naive, in love (or infatuation) and had no reason to question his answer. Little did I know that his lie would change my life forever.

Three days later my lip was swollen like a huge football. It was blister upon blister. To make matters worse about 3 weeks later I had the common “burning” sensation downtown. I immediately went to Planned Parenthood who confirmed I now had genital herpes as well. It seemed somehow, I had spread the oral outbreak to myself genitally, or perhaps through oral sex, I will never really know for sure.

For years I was in denial. Perhaps they made a mistake. It was likely an ingrown hair….I wished. All though there after, I always did use protection when having sex, just in case, I never disclosed to anyone that I had been diagnosed. Years ago it was thought you could only spread herpes through unprotected sex, or when you had an outbreak. I just made excuses for not having sex if I had any suspicion of an outbreak and thought that was enough to insure my partners safety and I would save myself the embarrassment (or rejection) of telling them. Don’t judge me, being older and wiser, I do feel a lot of guilt about that now.

I finally met someone that I instantly knew was going to be a significant person in my life. Despite the fact I wanted to be in denial I knew I had to tell him. I did, I had to cowardly write it in a letter, and was shocked that he still wanted to be with me once he read it (hey I was only 25!). We ended up having a child together and have been together for 12 years.

We are now dissolving our relationship (herpes never really had a whole lot to do with our relationship). Not because of herpes, but because we just grew out of each other.

The thought of dating again and having to reveal my secret petrifies me. I ran across this website in hopes of finding some inspiration since even though I have faced that I have it, I am still not completely comfortable sharing it with others openly, especially not new prospective partners. I have been reading on how to tell someone and what to expect their reaction to be.

I have been a little shocked at some of the stories I have read on this website. I am so sad at all the young women who feel they are doomed, or have to reach for strength to go forward, or even feel suicidal. I remember feeling that way. I found myself wondering about these women’s relationships. Part of why I stayed with my partner for years longer than it was working out, was that the idea having to disclose to a new potential partner my aliment was far to hurtful to imagine rejection. I myself have realized that having herpes doesn’t make it OK to stay with someone just because they accept that small inconvenience of your being. That is what I want to voice.

On the bright side, I can testify that I have encountered numerous people that have confided in me that they as well have herpes, not even knowing that I myself have it. I am speaking of beautiful, gorgeous people, inside and out. People should really know they are not alone. Of course that is what we are searching to verify on this website.

The irony of my finding this site for inspiration is that I didn’t find inspiration through your stories. For the most part I was saddened by the lack of self esteem of many and wanted to scream “Hey, this sucks, but it is not the end of the world!”. I didn’t even know I felt this way until reading the logs. I felt compelled to shout inspiration from my own story and am willing to share with you my experience (something I have never been open about) and hope that it will inspire others to feel less alone and less ashamed.

From what I have read 1 out of 4 people have genital herpes. 80% of America has oral herpes. We are not alone, just a lot of other sexually active people in denial. Chances are your new potential partner, knowingly or not has all ready slept with someone with herpes. You dodge the bullet, or you don’t. Non the less every sexual active person in the world has played Russian roulette.

I am still hoping to find the log that details someone’s experiences divulging the big “H” to new romantic interests. However, I have concluded that this is not the end of the world, not the biggest deal ever and we should feel beautiful, happy and proud of who we are. Having herpes does not define who we are, it is just a minor sexual inconvenience. In fact it may be a blessing in disguise. It can only eliminate who just sees our superficial self. Anyone who can view our soul will want and appreciate us.

In an ironic twist, it may lead us to the true love we never knew we deserved, or would have found without allowing someone to love us despite a minor inconvenience.

In closing..

You can’t love someone else until you love yourself!

Rachael
