My Virus Collection

I have been having outbreaks of herpes whitlow on my right thumb since I was 18, at least that was the first time I remember having an outbreak.  I had no idea what it was until I was told it looked like herpes when I was pregnant with my first child 6 years later.  I didn't really think anything of it and the doctors confirmed that it was herpes.

I still didn't worry about it since I was well into my 3rd year of marriage and hadn't spread it to my husband at that point.  But I seemed to break out a lot while I was pregnant.  I finally had extensive tests after I was diagnosed with HPV a few years ago and was told I have both HSV1 and HSV2.  I still didn't worry about it until I had a new boyfriend who was very worried about contracting diseases.  I convinced him that my various viruses were nothing to worry about.

I was with him for a year and never spread anything to him but he met someone after me who had the genital version of herpes and now he has contracted them from her.  I still don't see my herpes as a threat and don't tell my sexual partners about it. I let them know about the HPV though but if they don't get concerned about it I don't go on about the various other viruses pulsing through my blood.

I also suffered from encephalitis when I was a child.  I was a thumb sucker until I was 13.  I have no idea how I contracted any of the various things I have.  Now that I'm 35 I'm more cautious of my sexual activities but I know that there are all kinds of ways to contract things that have nothing to do with me and my various viruses that I have acquired.

Until someone convinces me otherwise I usually keep my virus collection to myself.  I usually have a breakout on my thumb about once a year, there is nothing that brings it about it just happens, it itches, then it hurts, I put a band aid on it.

No biggie.  Just thought I would share my story.
